This summer we are having some Carpe Diem Fun! As we move through our upcoming week at the La Cascade French Retreat, watch and see how many Carpe Diems we have to wear. Do you notice any new trends? There is a variation pattern in the works, and we hope to launch it soon after we return to the states. As with any new pattern, we have made lots of samples, often dipping into stash to breathe life into beloved fabrics already on the shelf, like the featured dress above.
We have increased our presence on Pinterest and are currently running some fun Pins showcasing how easy it is to sew effortless summer tops and dresses. But Carpe Diem really works for every season, so you can seize the day, everyday.

When writing a column like this, to remind our gentle readers of how versatile any or all of our patterns are, we review the gallery and blog archive to see what is already available. The Carpe Diem is our most recent pattern, published during the pandemic, and yet there are over 40 blog posts to encourage you to sew with the pattern year round. Many posts feature new design ideas, so all your tops don’t look exactly the same, but the pattern remains a well-fitting base you can rely on as you sew simple to simply amazing new styles.

Rae had some fun last week making a new Carpe Diem for her daughter Anna and a coordinating little shorts set for her 11-month-old daughter. She is also stitching up one for herself with the leftovers. Simple tops go together pretty quickly once you have a fitted pattern and fabric on hand. Anna loves double gauze and it is a great favorite for hot weather, so Rae will try it out for herself.

Check out our Carpe Diems on Pinterest and look for additional detail ideas on our other boards, like the Inspo: Sleeves and Cuffs board, the Inspo: Necklines board and the Inspo: Dresses board.
Be sure to send us photos of your creations as you enjoy adding these garments to your Fit for Art wardrobe.
Happy Sewing, Rae and Carrie
