Batik Splendor

Batik Splendor

“Dressy casual.”  What does that mean?  Here’s a great interpretation that will make you feel lovely and special and comfortable all evening long!  This jacket is fashioned as a blouse from soft rayon with a flattering swing side (Swing Variations).  It features a full sleeve narrowing into the cuff (Sleeve & Cuff Variations) to take advantage of the lovely drape of the rayon.  The batik print from Sew Batik is accented with a complementary raw silk for the band and cuffs, but what really makes it special is the complex beaded band of trim placed at yoke level across the back and front.  Some of the beads that were removed from the seam allowances (you don’t want to sew over those beads or you’ll be breaking lots of needles!) were hand stitched onto the cuffs to tie it all together! 13September-155 Unfortunately this photo was taken before the beautiful vintage Japanese buttons, which Carrie’s mother-in-law brought back from Japan in the 1950’s, were added, so here is a close-up of one of the 5 buttons on the front band.  Look for this sample live in our booth to see the full splendor.
