Rae had fun creating this vest from a variety of cotton quilt fabrics. She bought the Russian Dolls print when we were at an expo and found all the rest in her stash, several of which were left over from a Hoffman Challenge creation. In piecing the vest, Rae experimented with wavy seam lines. She finished by free-motion quilting the vest with a pattern of beets – because who doesn’t associate beets with Russia! The vest is simply constructed from the Tabula Rasa Jacket pattern without sleeves. The Shawl Collar comes from Band Variations for the TRJ. There are directions for binding the armholes of a vest in Swing Variations for the Tabula Rasa Jacket, but quilters will have no problem figuring this one out themselves!
