We are so excited to introduce you to our updated and expanded Tips for Quilted Jackets in digital format. As a digital booklet, it includes dozens of links to additional content in our blog and photo gallery to help you craft beautiful, well-fitting quilted jackets. The text and Illustrations provide instructions for making a quilted jacket with the Tabula Rasa Jacket Pattern. Directions for designing, piecing and embellishing the outer layer of the jacket, choosing appropriate materials for the “batting” layer and lining, assembling the jacket, lining the jacket, finishing seams and making a reversible quilted jacket are all included. We have also added conversation about planning closures and adding pockets to a quilted jacket.
Quilted jackets are so on-trend these days, and Fit for Art has been designing and making quilted jackets using the Tabula Rasa Jacket pattern for more than 13 years. The roots of Fit for Art Patterns are grounded in the grant Rae received in 2009 from the Potomac Fiber Arts Guild to study jacket making with quilters and weavers. This product is full of invaluable advice for creating a beautiful and comfortable quilted jacket for many years of loving wear.
Please note: This publication is designed for a sewer who is familiar with piecing and quilting skills and techniques and who wants to learn how to make a quilted jacket. While this booklet is designed for use with the basic Tabula Rasa Jacket pattern, the tips and techniques can be applied to other quilted jacket patterns.
For a limited time, the pre-digital print version of Tips for Quilted Jackets is available for just $5 plus shipping. Please be aware that this print copy does not include the updates and links in the new digital version!
