Rae found this bolt of vintage linen at a fabric shop in Richmond several years ago. The floral print in soft shades of teal, pinks, greens, lavender, and browns sits against a mint green trellis. So pretty that Carrie couldn’t resist making a Tabula Rasa Jacket with it. At the time, we were experimenting with an asymmetrical band front and asymmetrical hem lines, so she chose a very angular design to contrast with the curvy floral print. The multicolor raw silk found in Rae’s stash was used for the front bands, sides, and cuffs, plus a strip was added to the yoke to carry it to the back of the garment. In addition to the band angling across the wrapping fronts, the sleeves are finished to an angled point and accented with contrast cuffs meeting at the point. Front and back also feature one longer angled hem overlapping a straight hem to complete the asymmetrical theme. Front closures include a hidden inner tie and a plastic snap hidden under the oversized hand made button.
