Let’s Get Together

We have some fun class experiences ready for you this winter into spring.  Some are virtual and some are in person and we trust you will plug in as you are able to keep your sewing lively and challenging.

Careful pattern work for a personalized fit

OSQE Atlanta – Live Booth, Fashion Show, Classes, Sewing Fun

Join us in Atlanta March 10-12 for our return to this live Original Sewing & Quilt Expo. To celebrate our return to the place where the pandemic lock down began for us, we are hosting a Fashion Show with OSQE and we need you to model. We want to show off your Fit for Art Makes and show the world how great our patterns look on all sizes and shapes of gals. Complete the OSQE form and you will receive free admission to the show that day in exchange for your participation. It will be great fun!

Register in advance, too, for the 6 classes that Rae is teaching, and watch for information about our Four Core Patterns stage presentations.

In our booth we will welcome you to see our fun new samples, have a complimentary Jacket sizing or a pants fitting by appointment ($40 fee with appointment), and to purchase our patterns, interfacing, tools, and more. We also hope to have some SewBatik fabric kits for purchase, so stay tuned.

Sewing and Stitchery Expo Classes

The Sewing & Stitchery Expo, usually held each February in Puyallup, Washington, is going virtual for the second year and it’s sure to be terrific!   If this show has always been on your bucket list, here is a chance to “attend” without traveling to the west coast March 2-6.  Purchase a General Admission Ticket and have access to the Vendor Market Place, all the free Vendor Presentations and the Free Stage Events.  Register for the 1-4 needle classes by purchasing tickets online.

new designs for my spring wardrobe.

Rae will be teaching on the free stage every day in 45 minute sessions you will not want to miss. Be sure to check in early. Last year, each class filled and late arrivers could not get in, so review the event catalog and plan ahead!

The Fit for Art Booth will be offering flash sales and other specials that coordinate with our classes and will host booth presentations Thursday 3/3 (5-6 p.m. PST) and Saturday 3/5 (3-4 p.m. PST).  Hope to see you there!

  1. I would like to know if or when you have an event in the North Texas area. I also would like to make a suggestion regarding your fit for art patterns. Please develop a couple of patterns where the armhole is closer to the normal placement line, not as deep drop shoulder. I’ve found that set-in sleeves are more slimming. Thank you.

    1. Hi Anita, Thanks for your comment, First off, we would love to come do an event in North Texas if a fabric store or guild would invite us to come. We depend on interested friends to help us set up events that are not near our home. That said, we will be at the ASG Conference in San Antonio in early July. That might require a bit of travel for you and lots of travel for us but we would love to meet you!
Secondly, we regard the square armhole construction as our signature style. Our first pattern, the Tabula Rasa Jacket, was developed this way for ease of fit and construction and to offer a shaped up jacket pattern for artistic stitchers. We feel like the square armhole/side panel construction and natural shoulder line of our patterns is perfect for gals that want to make artful garments. That said, our jacket, knit and dress patterns square armhole is slightly dropped in the armhole but does not have a drop shoulder; in fact it is intended to sit at the top of your shoulder. If you are finding that the seam line drops off your shoulder, you may need to use a different size or to adjust the fit. Consult the Common Fitting Adjustments to find directions for adjusting the shoulder width or making an overall petite adjustment to correct it. Thanks for working with our patterns!

      1. Thank you. I might have to think about San Antonio.
