Rae made this smart looking jacket for her mom using a collection of her Dad’s old ties. The jacket is a basic Tabula Rasa Jacket in tweedy wool with the addition of traditional inseam pockets from the Band Variations and Pockets pattern. A vintage tie replaces the regular kimono band; additional ties are handstitched over the side seam, around the cuffs, and on the jacket’s back. We know that many of you have a stash of old ties hanging around, so here is one more idea for putting them to use. You can see her mom wearing the jacket in our 3-generation photo.

I am going to try something like this on my husbands jacket he can’t wear anymore!
