Repurposed Quilt Duster

A fully finished quilt was repurposed to create this duster length Shirt Collar Style Opus coat. The Opus coat pattern was lengthened by 9″ before cutting the coat out of the quilt. With careful planning, the pattern was laid out to run the quilt’s borders along the center fronts and hems. The original quilt’s binding are incorporated into the duster at the hemline, center front and collar. Two new features were added to this coat, a back vent to allow easy walking and inseam pockets. Hand worked thread loops are applied along the right center front for the extra-large buttons.
