Rain or Shine Variations for the Tabula Rasa Jacket by Fit for Art Patterns, Embroidered Wool Jacket

Carrie purchased this soft boiled wool several years ago in one of her favorite colors at Treadle Yard Goods in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.  This  jacket features the funnel neck version of Rain or Shine Variations for the Tabula Rasa Jacket.  Because she wasn’t lining the jacket, she did most of the construction with overlapped seams, both more attractive and less bulky than regular seams.  All of the overlapped seams are sewn with a decorative stitch.  The same decorative stitch secures the facings around the center front and funnel neckline.  The “cuff” is also a layer of the boiled wool topstitched to the sleeve with that decorative stitch.  Carrie cut the pattern pieces out with a zigzag rotary cutter to add another interesting element to this single fabric jacket.  It closes with button loops and large vintage shell buttons.
