Rae went all out on this Carpe Diem V Neckline Variation, a tunic with a Crossover Front and Back V Yoke! The embroidered fabric in the yoke upcycles a vintage embroidered tablecloth that belonged to Rae’s mom. The fabric making up the sides, lower front and back, and cuff came from a set of old damask napkins donated by Carrie’s mom and dyed beautiful pastel bleu during our retreat in southern France. Rae pulled it all together with the dark blue cotton floral which she used to join the yokes and lower pieces and as bias binding at the neckline, as well as piping in the side seams and cuffs; the quilting cotton was found at Spring Water Designs, a quilt store in Columbia, MD. The bias binding accenting the Crossover V Yokes is a striking bonus technique included in the instructions for V Neckline Variations.

Best of all, Rae used the scraps from this top to make an adorable dress and panties for her 1 year old granddaughter. So cute! Be a lookout for Rae to write a blog post about these upcycling projects sometime soon.
