This very simple Tabula Rasa Vest is made from a multi-colored wool blend bouclé and a scrap of wool in a neutral background color. After considering several of the bright colors in the bouclé, Carrie chose to use a neutral shade for the front band and armhole bindings so the vest could be worn with virtually any color top or pants. The vest is lined with a silky polyester, ensuring it is a warm layer for winter wear. The vintage buttons with chains came, of course, from Rae’s plentiful button stash!
Directions for finishing a vest are available in this free download, Make a Tabula Rasa Vest, but if you know how to apply binding to a quilt or garments, you can no doubt figure it out yourself! We find it easiest to bind the top of the side piece before inserting it into the body of the vest, and then bind the rest of the armhole with a piece of bias binding.
