Fall is a Great Time for Sewing Education

Over the next few weeks we will be bringing you information about classes and events we are participating in this fall.  As you probably already know, Fall is a great time for sewing education.

Today we will focus on the upcoming Association of Sewing and Design Professionals conference, October 15 – 20 at the Hilton Raleigh North Hills conference center.

This annual conference is the perfect time to explore whether sewing professionally is a direction you might want to move into.  Rae and Carrie have been involved with this organization for many years and recommend it as a place to get started and learn to thrive as a sewing professional. We encourage you or your friends interested in following a professional sewing path to come take a look, meet people who will teach you advanced techniques and help you explore career goals.

There is an excellent line up of wonderful classes which you can check out by visiting the confhttps://sewingprofessionals.com/conferenceerence web page.  Our good friend Barbie McCormick is teaching a class on decorating shoes.  You saw some of her work on this blog last year during the Enchanting France, Embellishing Fabric workshop.

Rae will be teaching two half-day classes: Discover your Entrepreneurial Sewing Path on Saturday morning, and Get Ready to Teach, Travel and Retreat on Sunday morning.   Classes like this which help people consider options and reach for their dream jobs are not available anywhere else.

Rae and her good friend Brenda who has grown side by side on our professional journeys, having a catch up.

There are fun social events too, such as a fashion show that includes the Threads Challenge garments for 2025, a Keynote Luncheon and more.  These are important opportunities to help you network and consider professional sewing options if that is one of your goals.

We have watched our friend Marie of Marie Makes It bloom and grow as she has made new friends and found new directions for her sewing life through ASDP.

Rae and Marie, showing off Fit for Art makes between classes.

Rae will be in the Raleigh area all weekend. If you know a fabric or quilting store that would enjoy a trunk show to promote Sewing Quilted Patchwork Jackets, please make a connection for us so we can expand our reach while visiting the Raleigh area.

Hope you will join Rae in Raleigh if this interests you, or at one of our other upcoming workshops that can be found on the events calendar as you make fall a great time for sewing education.

Happy Sewing, RAE and Carrie
