Carrie’s French Jacket

French style Tabula Rasa Jacket from Fit for Art Patterns

Carrie found this gorgeous bouclé in all her favorite colors at Couture by LK Design, a fab fabric shop in Richmond, VA, along with the perfect silk charmeuse lining and buttons.  It was time to take the plunge into creating a French style Tabula Rasa Jacket.  To try to make this jacket closer to the true Chanel style jacket, she created a 3-piece sleeve pattern and stand up collar, as in Shirt Variations for the TRJ.  Read more about the pattern work in Fitting French Style Jackets.  Construction followed the traditional cardigan style, quilting the lining to each pattern piece, enclosing the seams with handstitched lining, multiple layers of trim, and attaching a chain to the inside of the hem.  It was a long project, but so worth the results!  See also Rae’s French Jacket and several French Jacket posts in the blog archive.
