Carrie crafted this sleeveless V Neck Carpe Diem Dress from a batik sarong she picked up several years ago on a trip to Malaysia. The main panel of the fabric is featured at center front, while the sides and back are made from the overall motif of the remaining fabric. The length of the dress was determined by Carrie’s desire to run the border print around the hem. The facings are made from a scrap of red striped seersucker found in Rae’s stash.
This dress was another early V Neckline trial for the Carpe Diem Dress & Tunic, so the process for drafting your own V Neck pattern from the original Carpe Diem Scoop Neck was described in detail in the post Make a V-Neck Carpe Diem. Now we’ve done the drafting work for you, so you can purchase V Neckline Variations for the Carpe Diem Dress & Tunic for a quick route to making your own V Neck tops and dresses. That post is still worth a look as it provides step-by-step directions for sewing the facing into a V Neckline Variation.
