The trunk show will last approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hours and include sample core wardrobes for all seasons and occasions made from the Tabula Rasa Jacket\, Eureka! Pants that Fit\, Carpe Diem Dress & Tunic\, and Tabula Rasa Knit Tee & Tunic patterns and variations.        Following the trunk show\, Rae and Carrie are accepting individual private fitting appointments\, during which they will use their fitting shells to determine your correct size for either the Jacket or Knit Tee & Tunic\, providing you with recommended pattern modifications. SUMMARY:Enchanting France - Embellishing Fabric
DESCRIPTION:Spend August 2-9\, 2023 with Rae Cumbie* and Carrie Emerson** of Fit for Art Patterns at La Cascade Artists Retreat in Durfort\, an enchanting medieval artisan village in the Languedoc region of France to explore the countryside and a variety of fabric embellishing and surface design techniques. \nThe mornings will be spent in the cozy third floor artist studio of our 17th century home. We will paint\, stitch\, collage and piece a variety of small fabric samples to spark our creative juices and create memories of our time at La Cascade. Stitchers of all skill levels and interests are welcome. \nThe studio before the work began.\nAfternoons will be spent exploring the surrounding countryside including the flower fields\, regional markets\, tree lined thoroughfares\, small villages and cathedral towns. Our tour guide will be Anna Cumbie\, Rae’s bilingual daughter who lives and works in Toulouse as an English teacher. \nAnna and Rae in their Tabula Rasa Knits\nShe will assist us in masterfully managing our new surroundings and will lead us to some fun haunts for an authentic French Adventure. \nThe ceiling of the Albi Cathedral\nWe will find inspiration in the ironwork details\, copper works\, blue pastel fabrics and notions\, bountiful outdoor markets\, museum exhibits\, and fabric and trim stores in neighboring Revel. \nThe lovely fabric store in Revel.\nAs we move through the week’s creative experiences and beautiful adventures\, your work in the studio will come to life. You will be encouraged to move your samples forward with several options depending on your interest and abilities: \n\nCombine your samples into an inspired technique book\,\nCreate a functional tote that will include your work\,\nCraft the samples into a wall hanging or table runner\,\nPlan and craft samples to be included in an embellished garment\n\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				Fabric collage made as a gift for the wonderful La Cascade chef.\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				Memories of La Cascade Tote Bag\n				\n			\n				\n			\n				\n				Fabric Postcards \n				\n		\n\n\n\nMeals will be provided by La Cascade’s chef Nese using locally sourced seasonal foods and wines served on the terrace that overlooks a rushing mountain stream. \nThe terrace and stream\, so refreshing.\nIncluded accommodations are double occupancy with shared baths. This may include assistance with: \n\nFitting Fit for Art’s patterns\, beginning from our fit samples or from the mock-up or garment you bring with you;\nMaking pattern adjustments for fit;\nModifying a Fit for Art jacket\, knit\, or pants pattern for Variations or Details;\nPlanning a coordinated travel or everyday wardrobe;\nWorking with fabric in your stash\, such as developing a mixed fiber garment;\nPlanning and making a more complex wearable art garment;\nTrying a project featured in a Sew! Let’s Get Dressed blog post;\nOr whatever Fit for Art sewing project you are dreaming about!\n\nCost\nThe fee is $150 per day with a minimum of 2 days required. The fee includes complimentary parking\, lunch\, and ample snacks and beverages each day. Fit for Art will provide a sewing table for each participant (which can be left set up day-to-day) plus: cutting tables\, ironing stations\, pattern paper\, pattern drafting tools\, and the Tabula Rasa Jacket and Eureka! Pants that Fit fitting shells. Bring your own sewing machine\, serger if desired\, basic sewing and cutting tools\, patterns\, fabric\, thread and notions for your projects. We will also have Fit for Art’s patterns\, tools\, mock-up and select fashion fabrics available for purchase. \nLocation\nMaritime Conference Center in Linthicum Maryland (right by the Baltimore Washington International Airport). This lovely facility is easily accessible from the airport\, train\, light rail or MARC.  Rooms are available at the rate of $159 per night for a single or $204 for a double\, plus state and local taxes. This may include assistance with: \n\nFitting Fit for Art’s patterns\, beginning from our fit samples or from the mock-up or garment you bring with you;\nMaking pattern adjustments for fit;\nModifying a Fit for Art jacket\, knit or pants pattern for Variations or Details;\nPlanning a coordinated travel or everyday wardrobe;\nWorking with fabric in your stash\, such as developing a mixed fiber garment;\nPlanning and making a more complex wearable art garment;\nTrying a project featured in a Sew! Let’s Get Dressed blog post;\nOr whatever sewing project you are dreaming about!\n\nCost\nThe fee is $145 per day with a minimum of 2 days required. The fee includes complimentary parking\, lunch\, and ample snacks and beverages each day. Fit for Art will provide a sewing table for each participant (which can be left set up day-to-day) plus: cutting tables\, ironing stations\, pattern paper\, pattern drafting tools\, and the Tabula Rasa Jacket and Eureka! Pants that Fit fitting shells. Bring your own sewing machine\, serger if desired\, basic sewing and cutting tools\, patterns\, fabric\, thread and notions for your projects. We will also have Fit for Art’s patterns\, tools\, mock-up and select fashion fabrics available for purchase. \nLocation\nMaritime Conference Center in Linthicum Maryland (right by the Baltimore Washington International Airport). This lovely facility is easily accessible from the airport\, train\, light rail or MARC.  Rooms are available at the rate of $159 per night for a single or $204 for a double\, plus state and local taxes.
