Carrie designed this jacket for the 2011 Hoffman Challenge, an annual sewing event sponsored by Hoffman Fabrics.  Each year Hoffman selects one of their fabrics to be the challenge fabric which has to be used in some way in the entry, whether it be a quilt, garment or accessory.  Carrie was surprised and pleased when her very first challenge entry ever was selected to be in one of the Hoffman Challenge traveling exhibits in 2012!

The weaving technique used in the front and back yoke were inspired by Rami Kim’s book Quilted Elegance.  The jacket features a 3/4 length sleeve with a lantern cuff (from Sleeve and Cuff Variations for the Tabula Rasa Jacket).  The fan applique on the back of the jacket also inspired the fan-shaped front patch pockets.  It was a fun project!
