Inspired by Ruth

Rae was inspired by several blue and white Japanese cotton prints to make this handsome Tabula Rasa Jacket.  It is foundation pieced onto a red cotton print with Japanese motifs.  Read all about Rae’s process for planning and executing the diagonal piecing for this jacket in her post “Stitch and Flip Jacket Engineering“.  She brought the little bit of red in the wavy print out with red piping.  It is charmingly finished with some fabulous carved cinnabar and ivory beads and thin cording, which you can see in more detail in Rae’s post “Inspired by Ruth’s Jacket“.

I have a UFO jacket that is also navy and cream Japanese cottons. I never finished it because it looked like I was wearing a quilt. Now I will take it apart and use TRJ to restyle it. So Ruth will have inspired more than 1 jacket!
